What you’ll be doing...
Your work will have a direct impact on our reported financial results and ensure compliance with internal controls and external legislation. You will ensure state unemployment tax rates are current, and proper power of attorneys are in place for our regulated and non-regulated companies. You will support the existing unemployment tax relationship with ADP UC, provide timely responses to their inquiries and/or inquiries from state agencies as they develop in the due course of the business activities.
You will validate the tax impacts for upcoming transfers and complete the necessary state tax transfer paperwork. You will also care for merger, acquisition, and divestiture tax activity pertaining to account registrations, changes, and closures.
Work with ADP UC and/or state agencies to secure Verizon’s State Unemployment Tax Rates.
Analyze unemployment pay data and work across finance functions to resolve payment issues timely.
Work with Corporate Tax on qualifications required to perform business activities in certain states.
Assist with state unemployment tax research requiring detailed analysis to minimize potential penalties.
Comply with new legislative changes as issued by Unemployment taxing authorities.
Ensure Remittance Tax Tables are in sync between PeopleSoft and ADP UC.
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Three or more years of relevant work experience.
Unemployment Tax Experience/Multi-state.
Experience completing state tax transfer paperwork.
Knowledge of how state unemployment tax rates are derived & calculated.
Experience working with state agencies to reduce unemployment tax rates.
Knowledge about unemployment tax regulations required for resolving account discrepancies.
Experience in Customer Service and HRMS/Payroll Processing system applications.
MS Excel knowledge.
Even better if you have:
Knowledge of the end-to-end Payroll functional processes, as well as how the Payroll functional processes integrate with the overall end-to-end Payroll Tax processes.
Experience with HCM systems, i.e.: PeopleSoft, Workday.
Experience with Third party tax applications, i.e. ADP UC.
Strong customer service skills (both verbal and written).
Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet processing demands.
Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously.
CPP or FPC.
