Summary: Reporting to the LRH General Counsel/Chief Legal Officer, the Senior Attorney position provides legal services and support to LRH on a wide range of legal issues to meet business goals and objectives of the organization and to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements and policies. The Senior Attorney also assists in management and oversight of litigation, investigation of claims and disputes.
Standard Work Duties: Senior Attorney - Provide legal advice and counsel to executives, managers, and administrators in diverse areas of health care practice, including regulatory compliance, fraud and abuse, anti-kickback laws, HIPAA, federal tax-exemption and other matters relating to state, local and federal regulations. - Draft, review and negotiate agreements and other transactional documents as requested with specific focus on clinical and administrative services arrangements and other similar health care integration, partnership and affiliation transactions. - Conducts legal research and analysis as necessary to perform job duties. - Anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems within the organization, develop strategies to avoid costly litigation, and reduce potential areas of risk. - Manage litigation and disputes, including professional liability, employment, and workers ' compensation and general liability cases; interact and coordinate with outside counsel, as appropriate. Assist in response to records requests through subpoenas, court orders, and law enforcement. - Assist in oversight of corporate risk management department. Corporate risk management department is charged with risk assessment and mitigation, claims management, regulatory compliance and management of the system's insurance program. - Stay abreast of legislation, court decisions, trends, issues and best practices affecting the organization's business
Qualifications & Experience
Education Required: JD
Licenses Required: Admission to the Florida Bar or other state bar membership with Florida Bar Authorized House Counsel eligibility.
Experience Required: A minimum of five years of experience as a practicing attorney in a law firm or in-house legal department providing advice and counsel to hospitals, health systems or physician organizations.
Extensive experience in contracting and transactional matters
